Although the Republic of Ireland was not involved in WWII, we still have various aircraft wreckage from the second world war sunk, around the shores of Inishowen.

These included a USAF B17F called the Meltin Pot coming from Newfoundland to RAF Duxford in England.

A RAF Shackleton aircraft from Ballykelly and Short Sunderlands from RAF Castle Archdale  located on the eastern shore of Lower Lough Erne, all had sad ending in the sea around Inishowen or on the land.
